Portrait is a quartet where a self-portrait is a pose/ a pause, a fraction within movement. The black box recalls the camera obscura in which a series of strange and disturbing portraits are revealed. The piece questions representation at the times of the social networks and may be seen as a museum of selfies. The portrait symbolizes a necessity to capture, to grasp an identity that is nevertheless fleeting, to represent it as if to keep it alive. Inspired by the works of Cindy Sherman, Francesca Woodman or the portraits of Amedeo Modigliani among others, these works carry a rather complex and deathly atmosphere. Portrait tries to sit at the line between appearance and disappearance. The piece plays with the sensation of time searching for an altered state between immediacy and eternity, beauty and horror.
