In reference to the documentary Les Amours de la Pieuvre (1965) by Jean Painlevé, the project was born with the desire to deploy a universe, a dance that evokes this animal but above all the imaginary to which it refers. Thinking of the print The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife (1814) by Hokusai, we are particularly invoking its erotic, strange, even monstrous character. Transposed literally into the body, the mouth becomes a suction cup and the tongue resembles a tentacle buried inside the body, a body in love with an octopus.
Les amours de la pieuvre is designed as an immersive performance-installation where performers and spectators are placed at the same level, evolving in the same space. In search of an experimental plastic, acoustic and performative form, this work is part of a search for choreographic and sound writing where the body and the sound interact directly. The space is seen as a laboratory where the production of gesture-sound is apparent, where the body is dissected through sound.
